Chester Eastside Gala
Chester Eastside board members, staff and volunteers participated in the Walk Against Hunger on April 8, 2017, at the Lincoln Financial Field. Thanks to the generosity of family and friends of the "walkers", approximately $2200 was raised for the food program at Chester Eastside.
A gala was held on April 29, 2017, at the Ballrooms of Boothwyn to honor The Rev. Bernice Warren for her years of service to Chester Eastside and in celebration of The Rev. Zuline Wilkinson as the new Executive Director. A good time was had by the over 230 guests and speakers. There were testimonials to the Rev. Warren and the Rev. Wilkinson from friends and colleagues who have known and worked with these two outstanding women. Chester Eastside is extremely fortunate to have such dedicated professionals involved with the needs of this community.
A highlight of the evening was the announcement of the Bernice Warren Program for the Arts, a new initiative of Chester Eastside that will draw on the talents and input of people across our part of Delaware County. Offering opportunities for young people both on the Chester Eastside campus and beyond it, they will experience trips to major cultural venues such as the Barnes Foundation, attendance at area musical events and the opportunity to reflect on these experiences through their own creative work. This project represents an understanding that the fullness of our development is incomplete without our experience of the beautiful, and this realization of one of Rev. Warren’s dreams was a tribute to her care for the people (and especially the children) she has served so faithfully over her long tenure at Chester Eastside.
